I am one lucky lady. In our church everyone has a job to do. That job is called a "calling". This is an unpaid position where members of our church have an opportunity to serve one another. I have had several different callings in our church, but currently I serve as the Young Women's President in our ward. This means I get to work with the youth, specifically girls ages 12-18 years old. Sweet, huh!!
Each year the church gives the youth a theme to focus on, and this year the theme is "O Ye that embark in the Service of God" from Doctorine & Covenants Section 4.
It's a pretty small section of scripture and I remember learning it in seminary to the tune of "We are All Enlisted" (Hymn #250). I of course went to the all knowing Pinterest to see if this has already been done and I did not find what I needed. That doesn't happen very often, so I got to work cutting and pasting as best I could.
The final result....

D&C 4 Set to music (click link for full song)!! Great for memorization. This will be kind of fun for the kids because it is an upbeat hymn and there are some spots you really have to work to squeeze in all the words. I will not record it for ya, cause that could be scary, but it's here for anyone to download and work it out.
Hope you all enjoy it!
I LOVE MY CALLING!!

Oh wow!! Thank you SO much! We have been trying to get our youth to memorize this section all year and only a handful of YW have done it! I have challenged them to complete it by YWIE on Nov 18th. This will certainly help!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you!!!
Julie!! It's so easy!! If you want I can send you a very awful recording of myself singing it so you can get a feel for how some of the words are smashed together.
